Next Xbox Not Expected Anytime Soon

I saw a little snippet of an article today not really much of an article really more of a blurb in passing from Microsoft’s Prez. Robbie Bach. Basically what the top dog had to say regarding their Xbox console and it’s foreseeable future. Basically the man stated that they have no plans in the near future to move beyond the 360. Upgrading to a new faster and prettier system will be a lot harder the next time around and would require a major leap forward in technology if they were going to do it.

So there you are folks we call sit back relax and enjoy our 360 for the next few years as they will be focusing all their attention on the games and not the hardware. Especially since it was only last year that they started to make money on 360. The need to recoup some of the billions upon billions of dollars they lost in the first two years of the 360’s life.

I for one think this is great news I get tired of all the occasional stories of “rumors” that pop up every once in a while claiming that MS is working on the Xbox 720 for 2010, 2011 or 2012. Enough already let us just take a step back and enjoy what has become a great time to be gamer just in general.

Green Waves ExplosionIf anyone is going to upgrade their system anytime soon it’s going to be those folks over at Nintendo and their little weakly powered white box. They would benefit the most from an evolution at least of their console. Of course they may never touch it if the thing continues to sell like there is no tomorrow. Anyway back to the 360 and the comments made by Robbie Bach. This makes total sense and I was happy to hear that they will be focused on the software and only tinker with the hardware when they really make a giant leap forward in technology.

With that said just out of curiosity how long do you think Microsoft should push the 360 before we will need to see an all new Xbox 720? I would say at least another 3 to even 5 years before they put out the next console. Agree or disagree?

I agree, at least another 5. I have to admit I felt conned when I'd got my PS2 and only six months later there were talks and sneak shots of the PS3. Same with the 360, bought one and then there's talk of the 720. What's the point in shelling out if they're already looking at its replacement. I say let it have a life before they kill it off

totally! that's one thing I will give sony credit for is supporting their ps2 as long as they have and stating they will keep the ps3 on the market for 10 years as well. It would be nice if all the consoles could have that long of a life cycle.
